Minimally Invasive Knee Surgery
Expert knee arthroscopy surgery to diagnose and treat knee injuries with minimal downtime. Dr. Daniel Feghhi is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive knee scope procedures.
What Is Knee Arthroscopy
Knee arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows orthopedic surgeons to visualize, diagnose, and treat knee joint problems through small incisions. Using a tiny camera called an arthroscope, Dr. Feghhi can examine the interior of your knee without the need for large open surgery.
This advanced technique is used to treat a wide range of knee conditions including meniscus tears, ACL injuries, cartilage damage, and synovitis. Most patients benefit from smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery compared to traditional open surgery.
Are You a Candidate?
Knee arthroscopy may be recommended for patients experiencing knee pain, swelling, or mechanical symptoms that have not responded to conservative treatments.
Athletes and active patients seeking rapid return to sports and physical activities.
Patients with meniscus tears that cause pain, catching, or locking symptoms.
Those with ACL, PCL, or other ligament injuries requiring surgical evaluation.
Patients with cartilage wear, osteochondral defects, or chondral lesions.
Inflammation of the knee lining causing swelling and pain.
Those who have tried rest, physical therapy, or injections without relief.
The Procedure
Dr. Feghhi performs knee arthroscopy as an outpatient procedure, allowing you to return home the same day.
You'll receive either general anesthesia or regional anesthesia (spinal or nerve block) to ensure comfort throughout the procedure. Dr. Feghhi will discuss the best option for you.
Dr. Feghhi makes 2-3 small portal incisions around your knee. These tiny openings provide access for the arthroscope and surgical instruments.
The arthroscope transmits high-definition images to a monitor, allowing Dr. Feghhi to carefully examine the meniscus, ligaments, cartilage, and other structures.
Using specialized instruments, Dr. Feghhi performs the necessary repair - meniscus repair, meniscectomy, loose body removal, or cartilage treatment.
The incisions are closed with small stitches or steri-strips, and a sterile dressing is applied. You'll begin recovery in our recovery room before going home.
Recovery Timeline
Recovery varies based on the type of procedure performed. Most patients experience significant improvement within the first few weeks.
Recovery timelines are general guidelines. Your specific recovery depends on the type of procedure performed, your age, overall health, and commitment to physical therapy. Dr. Feghhi will provide personalized recovery instructions during your consultation.
