Advanced Cubital Tunnel Treatment
Expert ulnar nerve decompression surgery to relieve numbness, tingling, and weakness. Dr. Daniel Feghhi is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in cubital tunnel release, elbow nerve surgery, and hand numbness treatment with advanced minimally invasive techniques.
What Is Ulnar Nerve Decompression
Ulnar nerve decompression (also called cubital tunnel release) is a surgical procedure to relieve pressure on the ulnar nerve at the elbow. The ulnar nerve runs along the inner side of your elbow and controls sensation in your ring and little fingers.
Dr. Feghhi performs advanced ulnar nerve decompression using minimally invasive techniques to create more space for the nerve, relieving symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome including numbness, tingling, and weakness in the arm and hand.
Who Needs This Procedure
If you're experiencing symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome that haven't responded to conservative treatments, surgical decompression may be the solution you need.
Persistent numbness or tingling in your ring and little fingers, especially when bending your elbow or sleeping.
Noticeable weakness in your grip or difficulty with tasks requiring fine motor control like writing or buttoning.
Symptoms persist after trying physical therapy, ergonomic modifications, or anti-inflammatory medications.
Frequent "funny bone" sensations or shooting pains along the inner forearm into the hand.
Visible wasting or weakness in the muscles of the hand, particularly in the ring and little fingers.
Waking up with numb hands or needing to shake your hand to restore feeling after sleep.
The Procedure
Dr. Feghhi performs ulnar nerve decompression using advanced minimally invasive techniques to relieve pressure on the nerve and restore proper function.
A small incision is made along the inner side of the elbow to expose the ulnar nerve and thecubital tunnel.
The ligament roof of the cubital tunnel is carefully divided, creating more space for the ulnar nerve.
The nerve is gently moved from its compressed position to relieve tension and pressure.
The incision is closed with sutures and a soft bandage is applied. The nerve is left in its new position to heal.
Dr. Feghhi may perform an anterior subcutaneous transposition in some cases, where the nerve is moved to the front of the elbow to prevent re-compression during elbow flexion.
Recovery Timeline
Recovery from ulnar nerve decompression is typically faster than other elbow surgeries. Most patients return to light activities within days and full function within weeks.
